WWE Backlash 2009

Just 3 weeks after the '25th Anniversary of Wrestlemania', WWE were back with another offering on pay-per-view, with Backlash. The card was heavily shaped by the events of the 'Mania that had just taken place and featured John Cena defending his World Heavyweight Title against Edge in a Last Man Standing match, a unique 6-man tag match where Triple H's WWE Title was on the line as he fought alongside Shane McMahon and Batista against Legacy, and an I Quit match to continue the feud between the brothers Hardy.

Will Ospreay: The Verdict

Since becoming a regular on the podcast, Stephen Coriander has been hailing the performances of the man he calls the greatest wrestler of all time, Will Ospreay. Two of our other regulars had seen very little of his work, and so Stephen decided to set them the challenge of watching 8 of Ospreay's best matches, and this is the resulting conversation. What will the panel have to say about Ospreay? Is he the greatest of all time? Overrated? Or something in between?

TNA Turning Point 2004

For only the 2nd time on the Random Wrestling Review, we are taking in a TNA show and travelling back almost 20 years to Turning Point 2004- the scene of the 'Macho Man' Randy Savage's final ever match where he teamed with AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy against The Kings of Wrestling- Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Jeff Jarrett. Also on the show, America's Most Wanted battled Triple X in a Six Sides of Steel cage match where the losing team would have to disband, and Petey Williams defended the X Division Title against Chris Sabin.

The 3rd Annual RWR Match Hall of Fame Induction

It's that time of the year again where we honour the great matches that the podcast have covered in the past- there are 3 new matches that have made the Hall of Fame this year- they each were voted for by at least 50% of our 16-strong panel in this year's ballot from a potential shortlist of 85 matches.

WCW World War 3 (1997)

Taking place in the shadow of the infamous Montreal Screw Job at WWF's Survivor Series event, World War 3 (1997) finds World Championship Wrestling at a commercial peak, and on the finishing straight on the road to that year's Starrcade. The event would play host to the 60-Man Battle Royal main event with the winner receiving a World Title shot at some point in the future. It also featured a no-holds barred encounter between rivals Ric Flair and Curt Hennig, Rey Mysterio Jr up against Eddie Guerrero in a rematch of their classic at Halloween Havoc the month before, and a WCW Tag Title Match pitting The Steiner Brothers against Steven Regal and Dave Taylor.

The Game: Wrestlemania Participants

At last it is time for the Final of The Game Round Robin as Stephen and Alex go into battle in what amounts to a straight play off where the winner will take the title overall. This week they have been asked to name as many participants at Wrestlemania as they can, with more points for the most rare answers! Who will come out on top? There is only one way to find out!

WWE Royal Rumble 1993

It's time to rumble, it's time for the Royal Rumble! Yes- for the first time in 2 and a half years the Royal Rumble returns to The Random Wrestling Review as we take in the 1993 edition of the show. Entering the year, Bret Hart had not long won his first WWE Title and was lined up to face Razor Ramon in defence of the title at this show. Also, Marty Jannetty challenged Shawn Michaels for the Intercontinental Title to reignite their feud which had already been stalled for a year following Jannetty's misdemeanours behind the scenes, and let's not forget about the Rumble match itself, where the first time the winner would go on to face the Champion at Wrestlemania!

Reassessing The WWE Hall of Fame (Part 1)

It's the beginning of a brand new occasional series on The Random Wrestling Review as our hosts trawl through the WWE Hall of Fame's history and reassess whether each inductee should indeed have been inducted or not. They also consider who inducted them and perhaps who would have been a better choice, and what criteria should be used to determine whether someone should get in.

WWE SummerSlam 1988

This week on The Random Wrestling Review we journey all the way back to 1988 for the very first SummerSlam event, a night the Mega Powers and Mega Bucks faced each other in tag team action with special referee Jesse 'The Body' Ventura presiding over affairs in what would prove the conclusion of the feud between Hogan and Andre, as well as the beginning of the cracks beginning to appear in the Mega Powers. Also on the show, Intercontinental Champion, Honky Tonk Man's scheduled opponent Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake was out of action after an attack at the hands of Ron Bass, but WWE had lined up a special surprise substitute to challenge for the IC Title...
